Barrichello gets IndyCar seat fitting for test

Rubens Barrichello's IndyCar test moved a step closer after he underwent a seat fitting for the KV Racing Technology team on Thursday.

The Brazilian, who was left without a race seat for the 2012 Formula 1 season after being dropped by Williams in favour of Bruno Senna, will take part in a two-day test next week.

The test hints at a possible future in IndyCar for the 39-year-old, despite earlier claiming he promised his wife he'd avoid racing on oval circuits.

"For sure I will not race on the American ovals — I have promised that to my wife and I will honour that," he said last week.

A move to the top-class open wheel racing series in the United States hasn't however been confirmed, though he has support from current drivers, with defending IndyCar champion Dario Franchitti saying: "[Barrichello] would be a welcome addition to the series."
