Hamilton claims victory at the Nurburgring

Sunday 24th July 2011, 14:54

Lewis Hamilton claimed his second victory of the current season as he sailed to a brilliant win at the German Grand Prix.

The McLaren driver battled with second placed man Fernando Alonso and third place man Mark Webber for the entire race, finally coming out as the victor after jumping the Australian at the start.

Alonso finished just +3.9s behind, but at stages led the race, as did Webber who finished a further six second back.

It wasn't a great race for the current championship leader Sebastian Vettel who made error after error, even spinning at one stage, but the German managed to steal fourth on the final lap as he and Felipe Massa battled in the pits.
