Force India to debut blown-diffuser on Friday

Force India will debut their blown-rear diffuser in Friday practice at the Hungarian GP this weekend in a bid to close the widening gap to Renault, currently standing at 49 points.

The team suffered at the last race in Germany when Vitantonio Liuzzi damaged his front wing when he hit the resultant debris following the accident between Jaime Alguersuari and Sebastien Buemi.

The team then mixed-up their pit-stops which left Adrian Sutil with Liuzzi's tyres and vice versa - leading to a second unscheduled stop for both drivers.

Team principal, Vijay Mallya, described the race as a 'blip' on an otherwise good record for the team, with the hopes that the new upgrades will result in a big step forward.

"Germany was very disappointing for the team but I see it as a blip rather than anything more significant," said the Indian billionaire.

"We can however be confident that we have enough strength in current performance and the new developments coming," he continued. "On Friday we will test the blown diffuser, which we believe will give us a big step forward.

"We will analyse the findings and any data will be fed back into the programme for the second half of the year. Similarly, we have some new developments on the front of the floor."
