Jacques Villeneuve has moved to confirm recent speculation that himself, and the Durango outfit will form a partnership to enter Formula One.

The Italian outfit, which has competed in GP2, recently confirmed that they were working with the 1997 world champion, but Villeneuve, until now, has remained silent.

Durango owner, Ivan Pinton, said this week: "I certainly hope we can find a place together. For Durango, working with him [Villeneuve] is an honour and a privilege."

The former F1 driver, who most recently raced with BMW-Sauber in 2006, has now clarified the rumours.

"There are a number of rumours circulating at the moment and I wanted to clarify a few things before this gets out of hand," said Villeneuve.

"The team will be a joint venture with Durango, and based out of Italy. To be clear, right now all the money comes from corporate sponsorship, and not from personal investors."
