FIA gives McLaren green light over rear wing

Thursday 11th March 2010, 15:38 Ryan Wood

The FIA has given the McLaren team the green-light to use their controversial rear wing in Bahrain.

The wing had been contested by Red Bull and Ferrari, although Ferrari later denied any involvement.

The problem arose when a slit was added, stalling the air, giving the Woking based squad a speed advantage on straights.

While another little innovation on the McLaren car involves a knee-operated air inlet, which the drivers can open and close to channel air through the body and out through the rear of the car.
